Tuesday night as I was driving home I called my kitty cat wax establishment. I need to get ready for the luau this weekend, even though the pool would freeze over on the 4th of July before I ever put on a bathing suit in front of a bunch of people that I know.
I asked to get in to see my regular lady and I was informed that, gasp, she had left for Brazil for two months. I freaked out! This is the most personal and committed relationship that I have been in in over five years, how could she just leave me? Without a goodbye? An explanation? Nothing. She treated my like a two-bit customer who comes in occasionally. What about all the hugs and conversation? I feel so cheap and unimportant.
I asked to speak to the owner. He knows how anal particular I am and I knew he would tell me honestly who else he thought I should see. He suggested Marie. Marie? Uh, that doesn’t sound like a Brazilian name. It’s not she’s Jamaican.
Now I didn’t know Jamaicans were skilled at items of such intimacy, but what I do know is that I was highly uncomfortable at the thought of a sista-girl being all up and through my business like that. Highly.Uncomfortable. Some things should just be left to the experts. I mean, I only go to an Indian lady to thread my eyebrows. I only frequent the vietnamese for my nails. It might be wrong, but it works. Feel how soft my feet are!
Anywho, the owner assured me that she did a great job and oh by the way she has an opening right now if you want to come. I said yes without thinking because I knew if I gave it some thought I’d have declined. As I headed over there I called a couple of friends to let them know the deal. All my people go to the same spot, yo. One friend had already been to see Marie and assured me that her work was legit, if not executed with a little too much chit chat.
So I gave Marie a try. And guess what? I love her! I don’t think I’ll ever go back to see the other girl again. Marie worked fast and efficiently. Sure she made chit chat, but it took my mind off of all the goings on below my navel.
Who woulda thunk it? A jamaican giving a brazilian. God bless america!
I think I tried her (was she Jamaican by way of Houston?), wasn’t my favorite. I’m heartbroken over the news of Carol…she was my first! I tried a white lady (Mary?) and we clicked well. Seems like the spot is growing and acquiring talent! Helping the women of America be smooth one kitty cat at a time!
They say Carol will be back at the end of August.

One of these days I’m going to get up the nerve to get a Brazilian. I think I’m just far too modest to go to a spa to get it done.

Hey Babs! Can I get a referral as well? I love my Indian waxing expert but she has been on maternity leave and is a little bit of a drive…in Midtown. But she is awesome…10 minutes and I’m out!
