Say Goodbye to Single Life June 15, 2008

This weekend marked the final weekend that Keyalus will be a single girl.  As such, her sister and friend, Disco Diva, conspired to organize a top secret fun-filled weekend here in Atlanta.  They did a fabulous job and Keyalus should really feel special.  I’ve never participated in a bachelorette weekend, but I am assuming this was a very good one.  There were around 8 different women at all of the events.  Keyalus’ sisters and friends came from out of town.  They are so fun!

Babs & Keyalus with her bridal tatt

The weekend started out with dinner at Home restaurant in Buckhead.  Richard, the executive chef at Home was a finalist on the show Top Chef.  I think I was the only person in the group that had never watched the show.  As soon as we made the turn onto West Paces, Keyalus was excited because she realized where we going and she is a huge fan of the show.  The food was really good and I’ll probably take my mom there in a couple of weeks when she is in town for a visit.

We had a private room downstairs and halfway through dinner, Richard came downstairs to greet us.  He stayed talking and answering questions for about 10 minutes.  He was a really nice guy and it totally made Keyalus’ day!

After dinner, he came back again to make us a special concoction- liquid nitrogen frozen margaritas.   The process to create the margaritas was insane!  He whisked the margaritas while one of the servers helped pour in the liquid nitrogen from this giant drum container.  I’ve never seen liquid nitrogen and I don’t even know that it’s really used for.  It covered the entire table in this dry ice type smoke.  It was all very sci-fi.  After he whipped them up, we were left with the smoothest frozen margarita I’ve ever had.  It was way cool;  and way strong!

After dinner we got into some more shenanigans of which I cannot speak.  But I’ll just say that it involved lots of george washingtons.  Good times!

Saturday’s activities included paintball in the morning, but Babs was sleeping off the effects of vodka, red wine and frozen margaritas.  I didn’t roll off the couch until about 2pm.

In the evening we headed to Polelateaz for a private party.  The last time I took a class here I felt completely ridiculous because it was a room full of strangers and we did nothing but shake our azzes for 60 minutes.  This time was much better.  In addition to actually knowing everyone there, we got some real instruction.  We learned a bit of sexy floor technique, sexy walk, pole action and lap dance.  I am disappointed to tell you all that I absolutely suck at the pole.  That sh!t hurts!  I could stir the pot but I sure couldn’t swing around like the pros do.  However, if this gig at the plantation doesn’t work out, or if gas goes up another dollar, I might find myself giving lap dances.  It was fun!  And I wasn’t half bad at it if I do say so myself.

Babs on the pole

Saturday night we found ourselves at Loca Luna.  You will recall the last time I was at Loca Luna things got a little out of hand.  Fortunately, I was with a completely different group of women this time around and Pure Evil was no where in sight.  Unfortunately, the a/c wasn’t working properly and it felt like the Yucatan inside the restaurant.  That kind of put a damper on the drinking and dancing and we ended the night kind of early.  But not before we had some yummy food and a couple of rounds on the dance floor.

All in all, it was a good weekend and I am certain Keyalus will cherish these memories for years to come.

Next weekend- the wedding!

oh my god I love, love Richard and although I’m glad a woman (Stephanie) won this season I was rooting for him. I went to a stripping class with some friends a few months ago and it was a blast. I didn’t do so well with the pole either. I kept hitting my shins and it hurt!

Congrats to Keyalus….
