Game Night! June 12, 2008

I have just returned from the most fun and unique experience that I have probably had since I’ve been living in Atlanta. The best part about it, I was surrounded by my best girlfriends!

I was contacted about a month or so ago by a delightful woman asking if I would be interested in being a Brand Enthusiast for Nintendo’s DS lite. Nintendo is marketing this handheld game to women. At first I was a bit skeptical, but she linked me to another blog in another city so I could get better acquainted with what they were offering. She then sent me my own DS lite and a couple of games. I’ve been on that Brain Age ever since.
Tonight I hosted a Girlfriend’s Guide to Gaming party. It was the easiest party I ever hosted because all I had to do was show up! The party was held in my favorite neighborhood, Castleberry Hill. There was plenty of wine, champagne, colas and food. The space was absolutely amazing. Couches were set up in little theme areas. And then there were the games. Each couch contained 4 or 5 DS lites with a game. They included Brain Age, Crosswords, Mario Kart and, my new addiction, crap I don’t even know the name! It was this super cool Guitar Rock Star Game. We had to wear headphones and strum the guitar with the music. If I had that game right now I would close my laptop and start playing. Seriously.
My guests had a fantastic time playing the different games. It was funny noticing how different women had different favorites. At the end of the night, each guest got their own personal DS lite to keep. A party with parting gifts. You can’t beat that.

Although I loved the food, the drink and the games, the best part was seeing all of my friends. Some of them I see pretty regularly, but others I hadn’t seen in months and years. Some of the Crew were there- Clem, Rehab, Dark and Lovely and BFF (we have GOT to give her a name!). There were some friends from my old church and my old job. A fellow Buckeye. Women from an organization I belong to. And no party would be complete without BLOGGERS- MiMi, Keyalus, KKAve, CoCo (whom we all met for the first time), Petite Pearl (who acted as my backup entourage since Clem was too busy), and that totally rad twenty-something blogger Coop (who looked positively lovely).
Seriously you guys. I was on a natural high from being in a room with people I adore and that I believe genuinely like me. It meant so much that they came out to hang with me on a Thursday night, because I honestly was worried it was just going to be me, Mimi and Keyalus! And girlfriend’s were doing it too. They all looked so good!
Thank you, ladies, for coming out to share in such a fun experience with me!
Special shouts out go the the LA crew working the room and putting up with my shenanigans- Katherine, Betty Sue Bonnie Rae and Sylvia who was so serious about her job as my paparazzo- hiding behind bushes and waiting for the perfect opportunity to catch me slouching or with my mouth open. I felt like freakin Britney Spears!

Now that sounds like fun! How can I be down?? Are those the commercials with Liv Tyler and America Ferrera playing a small device and chilling out?
Sorry that I couldn’t make it. I’m glad you all had a fabulous time. You should know by now Babs that whatever you do we support you! Smooches…..
Aww, gracias mija. We missed you!
I had a blast with all the ladies! Thanks for the invite! Oh and the game you are talking about was Guitar Hero: On Tour. (We got a sneak peak, it’s not being released until June 22nd!) I’m officially hooked!
Sorry to the other ladies I was playing Mario Cart with! Who knew I would be so good?
-Mimi
Guitar Hero!
I had a BLAST! I’m so glad I was able to join you all. It was great to put faces to names…and real names to ‘names’. lol
And I’ve seen the pics of y’all when you go out. I knew I needed to wear my good clothes. LMAO
I truly enjoyed myself tonight! Thanks for the invite! The night was sealed with a sweet kiss from Nintendo by GIVING us a Nintendo DS lite!!!! Thanks Nintendo and thanks again Babs for inviting me. You really made my week! Talk to you soon!
Lynsey
I’m so glad you came!
This was a fabulous event! I am so hooked on Brain Age too. I could not put it down last night after I got home. I’ve been saying I want to do some activities to improve my memory. I think this it it. I love my new DS lite. I got a pink one. You know Petite Pearl loves pink
.
Babs wow! It looks like you all had a ball. You know if I was in town I would have been there. I’m sorry I missed it.you looked fabo in your yellow. That is a good color on you.
We missed you!
I had a great time! I will be purchasing Guitar Hero the day it comes out! I’ve got a looong car ride on the 22nd.
Make sure you get those headphones!
Babs,
Thanks for the invite! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I love my new pink DS Lite! It was great to finally meet you and everyone else–I guess I can stop lurking on their blogs and actually comment. By the way that girl’s name was Bonnie Rae not Betty Sue–lol.
LOLOLOL! I told you guys I was going to forget!
Oh! I would love to do this, too! You all look wonderful!
Babs this was a truly delightful event!! I told my dear ol’ Dad about it and he couldn’t believe that I got a DS (I had to break it down to him as a “New Age Gameboy”)for just showing up to mingle with other lovely ladies. He kept asking me what the catch was…no catch, just a new way to market and fun for all!!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and try to get my brain age down from 70…
Now I’m mad that i wasn’t invited. Tyler had a Nintendo DS that has somehow magically got destroyed.. And I’ve been trying to teach him a lesson and refuse to buy another one, but I’ll be damn if that thing doesn’t keep him occupied for long car drives… I might have to break down and forget my own rules and replace it. Now see if you had invited me to your party, I could be playing against him! Hmph!
Are you mad like I was mad when I found out you came to Atlanta and didn’t tell me???
I got a DS Lite! I got a DS Lite!
My dear, thank you so much for an awesome evening. I can’t recall when I’ve had so much fun with a group of beautiful women that didn’t involve male strippers. I am charging my new toy as I type so that I can take it on my trip. Everyone is going to be SO jealous. I hope the flight attendant doesn’t try to take it.
I’m still waiting on D&L to tell how I kept beating her!! Brain Age = 47 on my first try.
(p.s. – PP thanks for filling in as the entourage while I got my game on.)
That was way more fun that strippers. Babs does not like strange D in her face!
And don’t forget about the VIP bracelets! Have fun and be safe and remember to do some research for that thing I haven’t talked about on the blog!
It looks like you guys had a blast and I am so sorry I missed it!
I did finally get some COOL air about 7ish last night. I’ll never take central air and heat for granted again!
Sounded like a great time. Clem, I’m gonna jack you for yours then. LOL
Sorry I missed it as I was in Houston, but it sounded/looked fabulous! I really wanted to come
I keep missing USDA events b/c of work travel
Definitely keep me looped in on future game parties.
This wasn’t USDA. But you were missed!
Um, seee what had happened was….
Mmmm-hmmmmm….
Just chiming in… I love it. Posted about it on my blog, too! Ltr.
[...] Babs, Countess LBoogie (Mimi) and KKAve wrote about the evening too. Everyone agrees it was the best party ever! [...]
You look hot in that pic
Now I am really pissed about the air going out! I missed the best party ever?! I feel like cussing! *sigh*
I’m not going to lie. You missed out.
Hands down the best time I’ve had in a long time! Babs, thanks for inviting me. I’m already scouring e.bay for Mario Kart and when Guitar Her.o comes out in a couple weeks, I’ll be getting that. Getting a DS as a party gift was cool, but getting a pink DS was AWESOME!!! What’s not to love about pink!
Glad you came! I think your name got the most laughter when I did introductions!
It was a lot of fun!!!! Babs you know how to throw a party!! Thanks for having me!
~Go Bucks!
I was so glad you could make it! Shall I start calling you Dr.?
Lemme see you had a gig that included fun, games, drinks, prizes and a Buckeye?! Now that’s my kinda party! You were doing-T it Babsie! Hey Coop ::waving::
I’m soooo glad you enjoyed your party! We all had a great time making sure you had fun. You definitely made our night! I also have that clip of you playing Guitar Hero and C* jumping up and down when she got her DS Lite. Please let me know if you’d like me to email them to you!
