I Kissed a Girl May 25, 2008

I knew that would grab your attention! No, Babsie didn’t kiss a girl. Times aren’t THAT hard!
This morning I was driving and stopped by one of my fave channels on XM. The windows were down, the sunroof was open and I was feeling pretty good for having just logged 3.5 miles at the trail. My mind was wandering and I was kinda jammin to the song playing on the radio. About a minute into the song my ears perked up. Up until that point I hadn’t been really paying attention to the words, but then I realized a woman was singing these lyrics:
I kissed a girl And I liked it The taste of her cherry chapstick I kissed a girl Just to try it I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
Man! I can’t even believe music today. Am I getting old? The first thing I thought of was all the teenage girls that will think it’s okay to go around kissing each other. Let’s face it, you know that’s what’s gonna happen.
I’ve always said that when I become a parent I’m canceling cable television, now it looks like I have to cancel XM as well. It’s music like this that really makes a case for the restrictive lifestyles of re.ligious cu.lts.

There was a similar song about, um, ten years ago…I think it was by Jil.l S.ob.ule. I wonder if it’s a remake?
“Bust it Baby” and “Superman dat hoe” have officially destroyed my faith in anything but Gospel and NeoSoul. Yes, when the little Babs gets here, radio will be a thing of the past. Kidsongz CDs it is!
@Psonya: Music went down the tube a long time ago. You have to hunt HARD for anything decent or just listen to old stuff :-/
@melonie- OK I just went and downloaded the song you were talking about. It’s definitely not a remake. The song you are talking about as a bit of a country twang to it and totally different lyrics. I actually like the song I heard today! *shame*
I remember that song. It was on the soundtrack to “Kissing Jessica Stein”.
I’m super late, but I kind of like this song. It’s super 80s punk-rock-fun. I feel like I need to dance to it rocking a pony tail to one side.
It’s a sick song in an even sicker world. I did some things as a teen that aren’t exactly wholesome but where the world is headed today is really something quite different.
