Put me in the game, coach! January 29, 2008

The Super Bowl is coming up this weekend. I’m super excited to watch the big game. Go Giants! Hey, if Peyton can’t make it, I’m keeping it in the family. I’m looking forward to this year’s party. SBG called me over the weekend and asked if I would be at the same party. I will, too bad he wasn’t invited. Perhaps I’ll meet a new SBG (or as LadyA calls him SBG 2.0). I love that!
The sport of football reminds me so much of dating. Each week we play game after game in the hopes that we will make it to the Super Bowl. Some weeks you win and you might even make MVP. Other weeks you lose and you don’t even feel like suiting up.
After all that time spent playing with other players you make it to the Super Bowl. And there you sit on the bench watching other players get in the game. You see fumbles, interceptions and missed goals. All the while you are waiting. You’ve studied your opponents. You know all the plays. You are ready. Ready to get that elusive Super Bowl Ring. You know you will wear it proudly.
Put me in the game, coach!
And there you continue to sit.
Put me in the game, coach!
Waiting. Watching from the sidelines.
Put me in the game, coach!
Sippin on a sports drink and trying to keep yourself warm.
Put me in the game, coach!
The game has ended and you didn’t get to play. You go home and start to work on your game plan for next season.
Maybe next year you’ll get in the big game.

Hola mami! Let’s hope we all get a chance to get in the game soon! I should be first string, so I don’t know why I’m sitting on this bench like some alternate. LMAO My cousins are already planning a big Valentine’s bash complete with lots of single men, so we’ll see what happens. Can you believe THAT’S only a couple of weeks away? *sigh*
Love the analogy of dating to football! “Put me in the game, coach!”
I love the analogy!
Church!! Tabernacle!!! Hell, synagogue and mosque, too.
You preaching today!
lol @ TIH
This damn hiatus lasted all of 24 hrs? LOL! Guess you can’t sit the game out for nothing.. You didn’t mention one part about getting hurt in the game and having to retire early.. It happens to some of the best players.
Welcome back Babs.
Wonderful analogy! This expresses exactly how I feel.
Love the game analogy. If I may put it more on a spirtual level….the coach could be God. I know MANY times I say to God..put me in the game!! When’s he’s he coming…when will I get to play for real. And Valentines day SUCKS!!! LOL!!!
@S30- oh I could go on and on about all the injuries. Those have lasting results!
@deuce- God is the coach
OMG this would be the only way to get you to watch sports!
@the girl- what are you talking about? I watch football every week.
